FABRICS

 


Cotton :
Soft vegetable fibre obtained from the seedpod of the cotton plant and one of the major fibres used in the textile industry.

Combed Cotton : A cotton yarn that has been combed to be even and compact, creating a softer and more durable fabric.

Doeskin : A type of fabric finish to create a soft suede like feel to the fabric surface.

Double-Mercerised : A process for cotton yarn to increase its lustre, strength and affinity for dyes. The material is immersed in caustic soda then neutralised in acid creating a permanent swelling of the fibre.

Interlock : Fine gauge knit fabric produced by interlocking stitches. The fabric is extremely soft, firm and absorbent.

 

   
   

 


Jacquard :
Dyed yarn knit on sophisticated equipment to produce a designated pattern or texture.

Jersey : A type of fabric with a smooth flat appearance without a distinctive rib.

Microfibre : Very fine fibres used to produce lightweight soft and very durable fabrics.

Nylon : First completely synthetic fibre, known for its strength and resilience.

Oxford : A fine, soft, lightweight woven cotton used primarily for shirts.

Pima Cotton : A hybrid cotton superior to combed cotton making fabrics of excellent quality.

 

 



Pique :
A cotton that is comfortable, textured and very breathable due to its open weave.

Polyester : A manufactured fibre known for crease resistance and quick drying properties.

Water-Resistant / Waterproof: Water resistant will keep you dry in light rain for hours but only 30 minutes in heavy rain. Waterproof should keep you dry all day.

Wickability: The ability of a fibre or fabric to disperse moisture and allow it to pass through to the surface of the fabric so that evaporation can take place.
